Papua New Guinea's Governor General has intervened to prevent the country's election from failing. The election has been running for almost a month but has been plagued by violence and delays. The Governor General says he has approved a two-week extension for the results to be handed up, saying it would have been impossible to complete the vote counting by Friday.
